New England FCU earns top rating of A+

New England Federal Credit Union located in Williston, Vermont with assets of $843.2
million was upgraded to a Weiss Financial Strength Rating of A+ (“Excellent”) on second
quarter 2011 results. This makes the institution one of only 31 credit unions in the
nation to earn this distinction. Weiss covers 7,343 credit unions nationwide.
New England FCU reported a profit of more than $5.5 million for the six months
through June 30 and return on assets of 1.35%, well above the industry average of 0.76%.
The institution had a net worth ratio of 11.39% compared to the industry average of
10.14%. Nonperforming loans made up only 0.76% of its loan portfolio, less than half the
industry average. It is also actively lending as reflected in an 8.30% one-year growth
in assets.
